How We Worship Is More Important Than Where We Worship

I am taking a religion class on the New Testament and for a my first assignment I am to share what I've learned this week.

How cool right?! I'm excited!

I was given a scripture block to study and these verses from John 4:20-24 are what struck me most.

Have you ever been accused of being a Sunday Christian? Going to church once a week and acting the part while there but then the rest of the week you are a different person?

I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (some people call us Mormons) and being a Sunday "Mormon" was a phrase I have heard bandied about through the years.

I don't know if I've ever been accused out right but I may have been one from time to time. It's easy to get busy and stop our worship when we aren't in church to stop behaving how a true disciple should.

That is truly sad!

How we worship is more important than where we worship.

The woman at the well said, "Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship."  Jesus responds by telling her that one day they will not worship in either place, telling her that it is not about the place that you worship but it's about the quality of your worship.

President Nelson(17th and current living Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) introduced the Come Follow Me curriculum it was started in 2019 with the New Testament and what a blessing that was for me in strengthening my testimony of Jesus Christ. It also really helped me to be better at worshiping all week long with continued study with my family and even in conversations with my firends.

When covid hit Come Follow me has been such a blessing to already be in the habit of having these gospel discussions in our homes with all the ages of kids learning the same part of the scriptures and we can easily share it with those not in our homes.

An example of this is when we were in lock-down not being able to attend church my family members who didn't have anyone to study or have lessons with at home have been able to zoom with us and we all share our study with each other.

If you are a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I wonder...

has the quality of your study increased with Come Follow Me?

If you're not a member you can learn more here.

Mine has and as I studied these verses I was humbled to realize how much I needed to change the way I worshiped our Lord and Savior.

I am so grateful for this opportunity to share and say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
